Helle moderated a panel discussion by Global Affairs Canda on responsible sourcing initiatives on September 12, 2016. The objective of the event was to provide an overview of the importance of responsible sourcing initiatives and how they positively impact development and trade.
Panelists provided insight into the global initiatives that are supported by the Government of Canada, emerging initiatives in the extractives sector, including conflict-free sourcing, initiatives in the garment sector through responsible fashion initiatives and in the food sector through the example of cacao.
This panel discussion identified opportunities and challenges which exist in responsible sourcing initiatives and explore the positive impacts for the development sector.
